Higher education plays an essential role in society by promoting and contributing to
individuals' academic, social, economic, and cultural development throughout the
teaching-learning process. Among the various teaching and learning strategies,
academic monitoring (peer tutoring) stands out. However, there is still limited literature
addressing academic monitoring in the field of Psychology, particularly in
Psychoanalysis. Therefore, this study aims to report the experience of serving as a
teaching assistant during the implementation of classes in the Psychoanalysis course
within an undergraduate Psychology program. This study consists of an experience
report based on academic monitoring carried out in the Psychoanalysis discipline at a
private higher education institution. The experience demonstrated the importance of
academic monitoring for Psychology undergraduate education, highlighting the
relevance of Psychoanalysis and its theoretical-methodological foundations as a
means of understanding and analyzing different psychoanalytic perspectives, which
contribute significantly to students' academic training. Finally, it is expected that this
experience report may contribute to future studies, especially those focusing on
academic monitoring in the field of Psychology, an area in which research remains
scarce, particularly regarding Psychoanalysis.
