Pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period are stages of many changes in a woman's life. In
addition to social, professional, and personal changes, her hormones undergo fluctuations in
production, making her quite vulnerable to situations that compromise her mental health. For this
reason, it is essential that she receives assistance in Primary Health Care during these three periods,
with nursing professionals being one of the main figures who can welcome and assist women in their
needs in a humanized way. Thus, this article aimed to conduct a literature review to analyze theories
and practices that demonstrate humanized care for pregnant women, women in labor, and women in
the postpartum period, guaranteeing attention to their rights. To achieve this objective, a literature
review was conducted, considering databases such as Scielo, Lilacs, and the Virtual Health Library.
The search in the databases with the selected descriptors resulted in 388 results. After observing the
inclusion and exclusion criteria, 10 articles were selected for discussion. This research made it
possible to understand the importance of Nursing in promoting the health of pregnant women, women
in labor, or women in the postpartum period. From the initial reception in Primary Health Care, to the
guidance and humanized care, all these actions are essential for women to feel supported during this
time of so many changes in their lives.
