The welcoming approach during prenatal care is an essential element for promoting
the humanization of care within the Unified Health System (SUS). In the municipality
of Monteiro - PB, a gap is observed in studies addressing the perception of pregnant
women on this topic, especially in light of the discrepancies between the principles of
the National Humanization Policy (PNH) and everyday practices. This study aims to
understand how women in the state of pregnancy experience prenatal care reception
and to identify weaknesses and potentialities in the care provided. The research, which
employs a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory approach, collected data through
semi-structured interviews with pregnant women followed up in family health units.
Additionally, it included a critical analysis of scientific literature, encompassing articles,
specialized journals, and materials available on digital platforms, with a theoretical
framework focused on woman-centered care. The results indicate progress in certain
care practices but also highlight weaknesses related to the individualization of care
and the establishment of bonds between care users and professionals. It is concluded
that there is a need for the continuous qualification of health teams and the
strengthening of public policies that ensure the consistency of humanized practices,
aiming to enhance the experience of pregnant women and the quality of services
provided.
